I first saw Bill when I was eight years old, probably about a year before his daughter, my wife, was born. I was looking out of my bedroom window late at night watching dramatic events in the road outside. The way he arrested my friend's dad impressed me very much; he was obviously an upright man of strong character. When I got to know him better, about twenty years later, my initial impression was confirmed. He was a brilliant father-in-law and a great friend. He was also a wonderful grandad to our three boys. God bless you Bill.

Bill was a lovely man. He was positive, always full of life & always smiling.

It's not only that Bill was one of the loveliest men I have ever met that I admired him so much. Nor was it the fact that Bill always greeted me with a smile. It's that for me, Bill and laughter go hand in hand. He was always laughing with me. I can hear him now. Just a truly wonderful man.
